Motion Activated Sprinkler Scarecrow Pest Repellent: Dog, Cat, Squirrel, Raccoon, Bird Repeller: Garden Animal Sensor
74Contech Scarecrow Motion Activated Sprinklers Reviews
The Contech Scarecrow is a motion-activated sprinkler that uses a sensor to detect unwanted invaders in your pond, lawn, and yard, garden or summer house. It effectively sprays water for three seconds towards the animal invaders and if the intruders return, it sprays again after seven seconds. A typical garden hose should be connected to supply the water. An on/off switch is attached with the contech scarecrow to conduct it. You can choose between spray or jet water pattern by adjusting the scarecrow head.
The instant and scary spray leaves an unpleasant experience for the unwanted visitors and they leave the place immediately and avoid it further. The total process of deterring the garden pests and rodents from entering into your garden is totally humane and the system doesn’t use any toxic chemical or complicated traps. It deters deer, dogs, cats, squirrels, herons, vultures, raccoons, birds and the neighbor's pets from feasting or doing unpleasant things on your gardens, yards or ponds. No overwhelming technical assembly is needed to use the contech scarecrow sprinkler. It’s a cheap, safe and reliable deterrent to keep your garden clean and undisturbed.

Why The Contech Scarecrow Works:
The Scarecrow motion activated sprinkler always creates a unforgettable and horrible occurrence for deer, raccoons, heron, cats, dogs and more as they approach through a blend of:
- unexpected, surprising blast
- unforeseen movement
- water spray
The animal instantly associates this horrid occurrence with the site. To stay away from similar shocks, they start to let alone the area in which the Scarecrow is set. The natural fight or flight survival response is found in most animals. Their low level intelligence or lack of ability to "short out" what caused the annoying noise and action encourage them to stay away from the place to avoid similar threat again.
Other reasons why the Contech Scarecrow motion activated sprinkler works:
- Repelling is constant at the locality, 24 hours a day.
- It is the situation rather than a human being or other creature doing the "breaking in".
- The water spray is adequately shocking and distasteful to converse an instant "leave now" note.
The Contech Scarecrow protects any open area of the garden or yard that receives the unwanted attention of animals. The sprinkler directs water accurately up to 35 feet (8.5 meters) outward in an arc, protecting a 1000 sq. ft. (90 square-meter) area.
FAQ about Contech Scarecrow Animal Repellent:
- How long the battery works for a Contech Motion Activated Sprinkler Scarecrow?
It depends on how many times the scarecrow needs to spray per day to keep the pets away. Normally it works 4-6 months and sprays around 5000 times.
- How much water pressure is needed to operate the water sprinkler scarecrow?
30 to 80 P.S.I. If the water pressure is more than 80P.S.I., it is suggested by Contech to install a pressure reducer [found at hardware and irrigation stores] at the hose bib.
- How does the Motion Activated Scarecrow work at night and detects animals or birds?
The Scarecrow works 24 hours and detects unwanted visitors with infrared sensor; therefore, it works equally well both in day and night.
- Is the sensitivity of the Motion Sensor Scarecrow adjustable?
Yes, the sensitivity can be adjusted with the easy twist of a knob.
- How to switch the Contech Motion Detector Scarecrow off?
The Scarecrow can be switched off by setting the sensitivity knob to zero or shutting off the water supply. If the water supply in shut off, the unit will still detect garden pets, but will not spray water. Turning the sensing knob to zero is the best choice.

Shuvo, there is one way of realising when someone completely understands a language, other than his mother tongue; that is when that person can joke and pun in that other language.
I have been reading Nellie's complaint, and your brilliant reply... I was laughing out loud (Well, almost - my parents disapproved of overt expressions of joy).
Believe me, you are a very clever person, with words.
Your last mini-paragraph is so funny.
sigh. Would that it could be installed in my attic and walls, where the beasties creep and mess around - always some kind. The nocturnals (raccoons and possums) are here in the daytime, scratching around and probably chewing on my insulation and wires. The others (squirrels) are here in the night, when not chasing each other madly, sleeping and just BEING there. Grrrr. I've heard of a sonar device to deter them. But, from my experience, deterrents are only effective while in active operation, then the critters will be back. So I must be ready to have all entries closed up prior to that. sigh.
TL -please tell me if the Mars branch of Amazon has anything I might apply to my pest problems!
Thank you, Shuvo, I'm going to order one on Amazon.ma as soon as I can.
I am having a lot of trouble with a hippopotamus that keeps on coming into my garden and climbing up into my cheery trees. I'm not sure if he is eating the cherries or not, because every time I go to look, he is up sitting on one of the branches, and I am frightened that he might see me; panic and fall and hurt himself,
Will this water scarecrow deter him from entering my garden, or should I seek help elsewhere?

aha! Shuvo (if I may, since Ian calls you that and it's so much easier to remember to spell correctly!) - So, you've provided me with some dandy ideas! A hippo! Only one drawback there: this is a fairly dry climate and hippopotamus means "Water Horse" - they love water! In fact, I wonder whether the Motion Activated Sprinkler would deter or attract them! - It's worth considering. But anyway - we haven't had enough rain in months to supply the moisturizer for a hippo's delicate skin. Hm.
Wonder what other options there are. . . .? Rhinos are too ferocious. 'Gators and Crocs are really ferocious and besides, need more water than hippos. Hm. Well, anyway - if the animal's ultimate fate is to be removed like a bad dream, maybe I shouldn't bring him aboard in the first place.
I have become fairly tolerant of the critters in my walls and attic, though. Their main danger is if they are chewing on wires. That could cause an electrical fire, you see. The raccoon who likes the wall right behind where I am sitting has gnawed it enough that if I spray something up on the molding at the top, it silences him! That is scary. i spray anything from room deodorizer to wasp spray to furniture polish (that helps restore the wood from the damage of the other sprays).
Another thing about that wall (as you can see in my hub about this http://hubpages.com/hub/Paranoid-Or-Just-Plain-Squ ) is that it once housed a hive of bees and there are remnants of the honey in there. That probably has pleased the critters for some time and I don't object to that except that they gnaw at the ceiling where it meets the wall and have managed a couple of small holes. Not a good thing. This has even resulted in honey dripping down the wall and onto the side of the drapery on the window underneath the damage. No, critters are not good for houses, Shuvo, no matter how charming and honest they may be. As for charging them rent . . .!!! If I even brought it up, they would get the idea that I owe THEM rent for living down here! I kid you not! These are very street-wise sophisticated critters.
I figure the only reason they tolerate me is because the word spread that I was kind when one baby squirrel fell out of the tree in the back yard right by my foot and I reacted in a humane manner. The momma was up in the tree cussing at me in squirrel - but I could perceive her panic, so I moved away to allow her to scamper down the tree, pick up the baby by the scruff of its neck (like a momma cat carries a kitten) and run off into a safe place to be sure the little thing was ok and revived. I often wonder which of this year's squirrels that baby is. They all look at me squarely in the eye and hardly run away when I am at the door or out on the patio. I think they are familiar with my voice from my yelling at the when they get too rowdy in the walls and race around on the attic floor!
I'm not sure they fully appreciate my poetry, except if they happen to hear one of the recordings of me reading some. But I know they enjoy my piano playing. They are very auditory, you know. Reading is a skill they have little need to acquire. The last thing they'd want is to be able to read a "Squirrels Stay OFF!" sign, I'm sure!
But you are so right. They do have refined tastes. One can tell by their diets and music appreciation. And there are admirable instincts - that momma squirrel was such a grand dame when it came to her baby! I really thought the little thing had perished from the fall and had wondered where to bury him. But her insistence saved him. She KNEW! She had probably taught him to "play possum" and act dead or asleep if any strange species had the drop on him. (having the drop in this connotation means having an advantage over. . .)
So now - I feel much better about the entire scenario. But just as soon as possible, I will get a humane pest controller to get them out of there and seal up all entries! Yes I shall! :-)
I love your humor and agree fully with Ian, Shuvol- You have "IT" in every sense of the term.
